Palliative care is specialized care for pets with serious illnesses. It is focused on providing patients with relief from the symptoms, pain, and stress of a serious illness—whatever the diagnosis. The goal is to improve quality of life for both the patient and the family. Examples of a pet that qualifies as palliative care are: chronic illnesses including cancer, cardiac disease such as Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), kidney failure etc... This service can only work if the owner, the managing vet and I are on the same page and have open, healthy communication.
These prices vary as each pet and their treatments vary depending on health status, needs and location. Please call or email to discuss your pet's needs so that I can accommodate you.
End - of - Life Care (a type of hospice)
This is a sensitive situation that requires a long discussion with the family, the managing vet and myself. The goal in End - of - life care is to keep your pet comfortable and maintain a good quality of life as there are no further medical options or treatments. At this point, you and your vet have decided to no longer strive to cure the disease. These services are not intended to speed up or prolong the dying process. We will focus instead on relieving pain and other symptoms. My main concern, as should be yours, is enhancing the quality of remaining life by keeping your pet as alert and comfortable as possible in a familiar environment with family and friends until they pass or until you and your vet decide to humanely euthanize. I am there every step of the way, helping you emotionally and physically with this painful process. In the end, it is your pet's quality of life that is our guide. These prices vary as each pet and their treatments vary depending on health status, needs and location. Please call or email to discuss your pet's needs so that I can accomadate you.
